Patience

I waited patiently for the Lord;
He turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire,

He set my feet on a rock,
and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the Lord.

Psalm 40:1-3

How amazing is our God? He will find us in the darkest of places and listen to our cries and lift us out of them. He puts us on a rock, not a piece of wood or a piece of plastic...He puts us on rock. Immovable, steady, heavy, firm, strong rock. Once we feel Him putting us on a rock we have an inexpressible joy and start to sing new songs and praise Him. He is so worthy of our praise!

Be completely humble and gentle;
be patient, bearing one another in love.

Ephesians 4:2

This verse is so powerful! So encouraging. It says to be COMPLETELY humble, gentle, and patient. COMPLETELY, not just when you are in the mood or when someone is being patient, gentle, and humble with you...COMPLETELY. Bearing one another in love. How do you show people love? Do you love everyone? Ask God to give you the strength to love with every bone in your body. Love is a verb, it is an action. A selfless action that needs God's strength because only His love is perfect, ours is far from it.

The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise,
as some understand slowness.
He is patient with you,
not wanting anyone to perish,
but everyone to come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

This really really really helped me understand patience. God is so patient with us, all of us. He has been waiting for us to repent, turn from our old ways, and to love Him whole heartedly. So when we are feeling anxious at all we need to remember to be patient. Think about how patient God was with us and try and be half as patient. God has everything in total control, we really need not to worry (Mattew 6:34). The Lord is so powerful, He made all of these amazing people, animals, oceans, mountains, forests, flowers, etc. (the list goes on forever!). If God is that powerful to create this beautiful Earth, you bet He is powerful enough to give you the true desires of your heart... in His perfect timing. How romantic, God is a true romancer.
