Set Apart Women

Hey Ladies (and Fella's)! I pray and hope that this blog does nothing more than point you to Jesus. So first I'd like to pray because I love that we can commune with God whenever we want!

So Lord I thank You for each person reading this blog right now, I pray Lord that before we read anything we would open up our hearts to You first above all else. I pray Lord that as I write this blog that it would point women to You Lord, that it would compel them to look more like Your Son and that I would only type words that You would type Jesus. Help me to show Your heart and search our hearts oh Lord and know our hearts and see if there is any selfish way in us and lead us in the way everlasting. Lord let Your Holy Spirit come and convict, encourage, and lead us in Jesus name I surrender and pray, Amen.

Alrighty! Well, a couple weeks ago beautiful Orange County, California hit our summertime 80s as I like to call them and boy was it beautiful. I laid by the pool any hour I had free! And since I grew up in a "beach county" bathing suit season is like second nature to us here. It isn't strange or unusual to see girls and guys walking on the street in our bikinis and board shorts.

However, if you claim Christ as your Savior you are saying that You fully believe in Him as your Savior, that you need Him. Back when He was on the cross and now today, that you will forever need Him. That you believe He died for the sins of the world and that through Him you have access to the Father here while on earth and forever in eternity. Just want to clarify with ya'll what it means to claim to be a Christian.

So I just want to challenge the beautiful women I know are Christ professing ladies. If we are called as Christians to be set apart (which you are if you don't know) what does that mean to you? Some people may consider what I am about to write as extreme and being too serious but I highly doubt when this fleeting life is over and I get to Heaven's gates that Jesus is going to tell me I "took Him to seriously"... so hear me out. What does it mean to be set apart? Yes it means to act different, think different, love different, speak different, but it also means to LOOK different. I PERSONALLY don't ever wear bikini's or revealing swimsuits, simply because I feel uncomfortable doing so and also I only want my husband to see that much of my skin and body. But I know that some of you will refuse to throw away your string bikinis but here is my challenge, do not post pictures of you and a bunch of your girlfriends wearing bikinis all over facebook and instagram! It not only makes your brothers stumble but it shows an insecurity that needs to be worked out in the Lord.

Our poor brothers... they are constantly having to deal with the lust sin. Ever since I became a Christian I have never wanted to make someone stumble because Jesus said some pretty straightforward things about that! (But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. Mark 9:42) - So when I read about making others stumble and read Matthew 5:28 which says "But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." I knew that I as a woman needed to do whatever it took to point my brothers to Jesus instead of my cleavage.

I have had this discussion with young women all the time of "well guys can run around with their shirts off" double standard type of stuff and I just have a couple things to say about that. Who cares about double standards that society made! This is about Jesus, not about culture. We should NEVER try and fit Jesus into our culture. Culture, traditions, etc. don't matter when it comes to Jesus and the Word of God. And if you are posting pictures to receive love and attention then we need to press into that and see where that rooted from and bring security and freedom in Christ to that! Whenever you get dressed in the morning or post a picture think...

"Am I dressing to SHOW that I am loved or to RECEIVE love?"

May we be women who dress to show we are loved by the one who loved us enough to die in our place.

We are called higher ladies. We are called to influence EVERYONE, including men to Jesus Christ instead of manipulate to ourselves. We are seriously the root of society, if we don't take a stand for the Lord then who will? "Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God!" Don't you want this world to see God? Lead them to do so in purity!

So this summer if you want to take a bunch of beach and pool pictures in your little string bikini and post it all over facebook while claiming the pure blood of Jesus, just know that I am going to call you out! I want to get coffee with you, I want to know why you can't deny putting a "cute" picture up so that your brothers can experience a purer walk with the Lord. If it is for attention then we got some stuff to pray and work through, which is fine and something I would love to do but ladies, you have to know that you have ALL the attention from the King Of Kings and Lord of Lords. He died so that you could be made whole! You will never be satisfied by a man's desire, you will only be satisfied by the blood of Jesus.

So Lord make us a generation set apart! A generation of women chasing hard after You and fighting for Your Kingdom to come to this earth. Lord give us the security and confidence to go unnoticed by society and this world. Remind us constantly that the only attention we need is Yours and thank You Lord that we have it! May you make us look more like Your Son and may we have a loving heart towards our brothers to not only be praying for them and encouraging them but physically showing them more of You and less of us, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
