Dream Room

So... I love my room. I have been spending a lot of time in it lately and I really love it. I hope this blog post will inspire you and encourage you that you can make your dream room (on a budget!) and hopefully give you some good tips on how to surround yourself with God's Presence in your room and/or house!

First off, every piece of furniture in my room has either been bought at an antique store for super cheap or its old furniture I've grown up with and repainted.

The first picture is of a small chalkboard I got at Landmark Antiques (Mission Viejo, CA) for 4$! At the beginning of every week I right a country to pray for and everytime I walk into my room I am reminded to pray for them. This week I am a little bias because Haiti is my spiritual home. (Some fun news... I am going to Haiti in early August!)

The second picture is of my dresser, which I also bought at Landmark Antiques for 50$! Such a steal. And I also got the chalkboard there for 14$ My room's theme is "Garden" and so on top of the dresser I have some plants, lanterns, and fabric flowers I've made and a soda or beer bottle wrapped in twine I've made. All super easy, crafty, fun stuff I've done over time. And on the chalkboard it's great to put a Bible verse and after a week of seeing it, I'm sure you will have it memorized!

Alright this next picture is one of my "craft corner" which is really overstocked. I am looking around for a new piece of furniture to better hold all of this craft madness! This is actually an old tv stand that was a light wood color (yay 90s!) that I sanded and painted purple! Cause, why not!? I have so much stuff in this picture... yarn, journals, door knobs, flowers, stationary, signs, paper, fabric, and basic craft supply in the container on the right. In front of the tv stand is an old tool box that I painted green and distressed. I also have a journal making company (www.facebook.com/dearlyloveddesigns) and all the finished journals that are ready to be sold I place in the tool box. And the basket to the left is a basket full of yarn! (Also, Dearly Loved Designs makes scarves)

Another shot of the top of my dresser. A craft I made when one of my friends and I had a craft night, lyrics to one of my favorite songs "His Eye Is On The Sparrow". Such a good reminder of the Lord's love and provision over me, His Beloved.

Something else that I love about my room, is that it's mine. You wouldn't see this in a catalogue, cause there are pictures all over the place and it's not perectly "clean" or "organized" as a model room but I love it! Something that makes me love my room is having pictures and scripture pretty much everywhere. The picture on the wall says "He Makes Everything Beautiful In It's Time" (Ecclesiastes 3:11) and the pictures above are from Haiti and a friend's beach baptism, makes me smile everytime! And such a good reminder of how much more valuable memories are than "things".

Here is a picture of one of the shelves on my bookshelf right by my bed. The red thing is a speaker, which is great to have with you and plays music anywhere! I'll start my day usually by plugging my phone in and playing Fall Afresh by Jeremy Riddle and getting ready to worship music always starts my day in the Spirit. Also, I love books. Bibles, Commentaries, and Ministry books are the ones I usually read but I also love some Francine Rivers, Harry Potter, and Chronicles of Narnia :). And a picture of two of my best friends! Who wouldn't want to be reminded of how blessed they are by God?! They're great, and it's a good reminder to always be praying for them. Men in ministry, fighting for the Kingdom of God... they need it!

Here is another shot of my bookshelf (which I got at the Barn in San Juan Capistrano, CA for 40$) and on top of it is a lamp my mom bought at Landmark Antiques and later gave to me, because who wants to get out of their bed after reading before bed? Not me! Garden themed book ends and a candle to pull it all together!

This picture is great. I got the old map, framed from Salvation Army for 98cents! Win. And the Dundie award my dad gave me and I love the reminder that awards in this life are as important as a Dundie...aka they aren't important. Good perspective reminder and a good laugh. Also a good reminder to pray for the world and the people in it who call themselves followers of Jesus, may we tell the world, so that all may hear and taste the goodness of the Lord.

This picture. Study Bibles. Love 'em.

I have 2 of these hanging on my wall and I bought the frames at Michaels for 20$ (for both, coupon! there is an app for that...) and then cut out and collaged together scripture and music sheets from old hymnals that I have been collecting for a while now (Almost all antique stores have them if you look hard enough)

I hope that this encourages you and inspires you to make your dream room! It will truly bless you and may the Lord be lifted higher in everything we do, even decorating! :) <3
